The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this position you will be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

To be a strong fit for this opportunity you will have:

  • A college degree in a technical discipline or a master's degree (non-technical) or non-technical degree plus professional certification.
  • CPA designation.

  • A audit background with a large to mid-size accounting firm is a plus. 
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with accounting software.
  • Experience with a leading major software implementation is desired. Experience with credit card system implementations will also be an advantage.

The Role

Reporting directly to the CFO/COO, as the Director of Finance and Accounting you will be responsible for producing the company financial statements; directing all General Ledger activity; directing the annual financial audit and working with management to establish, implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures and ensure company-wide compliance. Quick question for you - click here

You’ll work in collaboration with CFO/COO regularly regarding all aspects of company finances as you oversee a team of eight. Our business model is unique due to the fact that we process transactions for our government clients. We process film permit and other associated service fees paid on behalf of our government clients and remit these fees back to the government clients. This means our AR function is comprised of thousands of transactions and in-house credits.

You will also supervise the payroll function, assist with the financial side of workers’ compensation and employee benefits, generate a variety of reports and financial analyses, use metrics and KPIs to assess performance, prepare and revise the budget, provide support for the finance and audit committees, and much more. 

More specifically, your essential functions & responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide status of financial conditions by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data utilizing benchmark data, key performance indicators and other related metrics; produces timely financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Direct all General Ledger activity; review and approve source application and inputs by staff for A/R, A/P, P/R and journal entries.
  • Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing financial and accounting policies and procedures; protects assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
  • Prepare budgets by: establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data, and recommending plans; achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and manage annual financial audit and IRS tax form preparation with CPA firm, and other agencies as required; collaborate with CPA firm, CFO/COO and Audit and Finance Committees in producing annual audited financial statements and IRS tax forms.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends utilizing benchmark data, key performance indicators and other related metrics; research and provide account analyses as required.
  • Produce cash forecasts, review and record investment account transactions, and reconcile bank statements.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Administer Sage100 (moving to "Intacct") accounting program, all online banking and investment account processes, and all other accounting software or web-based applications.
  • Collaborate regularly with CFO/COO regarding all aspects of company finances.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Collaborate with leadership on all aspects of financial decisions, including developing pricing strategies, data collection and budget analysis.
